Marissa Blair is a theatre producer, playwright, actor, and director from Mont Clare, Pennsylvania. She studied acting at West Chester University, earned a bachelor’s degree from The New School, and an MA in Performance Studies from New York University. She lived twelve years in New York City where she worked as a performer in festivals and films, studied as a company member at The American Mime Theatre, toured internationally with Ann Liv Young Dance Company, and developed her own performance practice. Inspired by the writings of Antonin Artaud, Marissa has emerged in Montreal as a theatre-maker of meta-horror pieces (15 DEATHS IN 15 MINUTES, Festival De La Bête Noire). Her work explores authenticity, vulnerability, intimacy, and discomfort to uncover latent feelings and abilities. She is also known for her gore effects and bloodwork (Antonin Artaud’s SPURT OF BLOOD, St.-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival 2019). Marissa is currently an artist and organizer of Freefalling Monthly – a short form experimental performance festival hosted at Espace Freestanding Room.
